Deployment by the Numbers

Garrett’s HOME!

303 days of deployment… ~10 months… 7,873 miles between…     That adds up to 10 new teeth, 3 lost teeth,  12 haircuts, 48 baseball games, 16 clogging classes, 10 football games, 2 basketball games, ~1100 workouts (seriously!), 95 rides to and from school, 293 lonely nights,  1 ER trip, 5468 requests for Daddy to return,  746 reminders that Daddy is the favorite, 180 spankings, 3 birthdays, 4 holidays, 3 vacations, 90% of the baby’s life...

Day 1

Our military is more than the men and women in uniform.  Their spouses and children fight a different frontline, but it’s a lonely, long, ugly one just the same.  Today, I’m thankful that the Gilmore Family gets to close the deployment chapter.  There are two blondies and a baby that have missed their daddy long enough!

Day 303

My wish for them in the coming days…  7589 kisses, 8298 hugs, 1290876 smiles, 8726383 laughs, 0 lonely nights, and never more than a few miles apart.  Looks like they're already getting started on that!

And for you readers,  go out and hug a vet today… and maybe his wife or kid who selflessly and unvoluntarily took on the homefrontline!   We all owe them a debt we could never ever payback.

Welcome home Garrett!

Thank you, Garrett, for leaving your family and loved ones to protect my freedoms and nation safety. A man in uniform is the most honorable on the planet both inside and out. You came home and another Ark City native left on Monday. I can only imagine the hugs and kisses and hanging on your little ones are doing now that you're at home. I am sure Cara and the kids are delighted to have Daddy back home. Again, Thank you very much to all of your family, Cara and Garrett, for sacrificing your family time for my safety. May God forever walk with you all .
